Everton starlet Henry Onyekuru speaks out about possible January return to Everton

EVERTON starlet Henry Onyekuru on-loan at Anderlecht has revealed his desire to return to Everton is January.

Ronald Koeman signed Nigerian prospect Onyekuru from Belgian club Eupen in a £7million deal last summer.

However, after signing for the Toffees, he was immediately sent out on loan to Anderlecht, as he didn’t qualify for a UK work permit, but he is enjoying a purple patch in Belguim.

Non-EU residents normally have to have played in at least 75 per cent of their country’s international matches over the previous two years.

But in certain circumstances clubs can ask for those rules to be waived if they believe a young talent is good enough.

The 20-year-old has scored six goals in nine games this season, the most recent of which being a brace scored during a 4-3 win over Mechelen on Friday night.

The forward sparked rumours that he could be set for a comeback after posting a picture on his Instagram account tagging himself in Liverpool city centre last week.

When asked about the picture, he told Belgian newspaper La Libre:

“Yes, that’s right and I’m waiting for something. That’s all I can say.

“I hope to be able to play there in January.

“Everton is happy with my start to the season but we are not in January and all my concentration is in Anderlecht.”
