The latest pic follows on from what Italian fans called the ‘sexy sauna’, which showed Daniele De Rossi, 32, Leonardo Bonucci, 29, and Giorgio Chiellini, 31, all stripped off and ready to go for their therapeutic cryotherapy session after their win against Belgium.

Both sets of players were pictured wearing only their underpants, surgical masks, hats, gloves and socks in temperatures as low as -110 degrees Celsius.

Portugal and Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder Carvalho uploaded one pic on social media with the caption: “Recovery day in the ice chamber at -110 degrees!! LET’S GO!!”

Italian fans were thrilled by the pictures which were labelled 'sexy sauna' by the Italian media. They quickly went viral online and clearly made an impact with female followers of the national team. Netizen 'Annabella' commented: "The only thing missing is mouth to mouth! Mama mia you're heaven!" 'Katarina' asked: ‘If Italian men come to operate on you like this, what would you do? Haha", while 'Clara' said: "I am not feeling good, I need a doctor." But male fans were also amused. 'Lorenzo' wrote: "Risky choice! Great guys!", and Mario commented: "I thought it was the operating room Berlusconi" De Rossi is a defensive midfielder who plays for Roma while defenders Bonucci and Chiellini both line up for Juventus. The four all started the match against Hungary which saw their captain Cristiano Ronaldo, 30, answer his critics and lead Portugal to the final stages of the Euro 2016.

The teams drew 3-3 on the night, but the point was enough to push Portugal through and qualify for the last-16 as the third team in Group F.

And the four stars were well in need of a rest after the six-goal thriller, with the picture showing them happily standing together in the chamber getting ready for their cryotherapy treatment.

The sub-zero temperature will help the athletes’ bodies recover as they prepare for their upcoming crunch game against Croatia today.

Jamie Vardy praises cryotherapy chambers for Leicester’s 2015-16 heroics

Cryotherapy involves the use extremely low temperatures to reduce inflammation and pain after exercise and is now becoming a standard among top-level athletes.

Many players including Wales star, Gareth Bale, and  Leicester’s Jamie Vardy — the second highest scorer in the Premier League for the 2015-16 season — use the treatment to help them recover from tough games and keep their energy levels up throughout the season.

Vardy said in an earlier interview with reporters: “The cryotherapy chamber is absolutely freezing but it helps you in your recovery, so fair play to the club (Leicester) for getting it.”

Leicester won the Premier League title this year, in what has been dubbed one of the greatest sporting stories of all time.
