England U21 boss Aidy Boothroyd wants talks with Jose Mourinho over Marcus Rashford playing for Young Lions this summer
AIDY BOOTHROYD plans talks with Jose Mourinho about Marcus Rashford’s England future.
The Under-21 boss wants Rash for the Euro finals in Poland, which begin on June 16 — even though the starlet could play for the seniors against Scotland six days earlier.

Manchester United chief Mourinho is understood to be happy for Rash to feature in Glasgow but would rather he was left out of the Under-21 squad.
Boothroyd said: “I’ve been on a bit of a pilgrimage to clubs around the country to see the coaches and have a chat with them about the summer, to tell them what it is we are looking to do and the dates we’d like players for.
“I’ve not been to Manchester United yet to see Jose. But I will be visiting.
“I get on fine with Jose. He beat me a lot so I am probably one of the managers he likes!”
Boothroyd’s comments are the clearest indication yet that he wants Rashford to lead his squad’s attack in Poland.

England kick off their bid for Euro 2017 glory against Sweden in Kielce the week after Gareth Southgate’s seniors take on Scotland in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden.
Mourinho would like Rashford to be given a break this year as the 19-year-old spent last summer with the Three Lions at Euro 2016.
And the Old Trafford chief is unlikely to be the only boss unhappy at the prospect of young English stars going away to play for the Under-21s after a gruelling season.

Former Watford boss Boothroyd said: “It is important we work in tandem with clubs because the players are theirs.
“But if we can get them in the camp for the Euros when we need them then we will be in a good place.
“I would say most managers are supportive.
“It will only help the clubs if we can help turn their players into good internationals.”
The Young Lions have not progressed beyond the group stage in each of the last three Euros but beat Denmark 4-0 in their final warm-up on Monday.
