Garath Southgate was spotted having a feel of the plastic grass as he prepared his squad for the added challenge of playing on the artificial surface for the first time.

His players where having fun getting accustomed, doing handstands and looking relaxed on the eve of their final qualification round match.

The plastic pitch is something England will have to get used to with the tournament being played on a mix of natural and artificial grass for the first time in history.

England will look to have the same success as Scotland on the plastic after they tested out the surface in September and defeated the home team 3-0.

The pressure of qualifying is off for the Three Lions who secured their spot for next summer’s tournament on Thursday with a 1-0 win over Slovenia.

Southgate can now start planning in earnest for Russia and start putting his final squad in place.

Jack Butland will get his shot in goal against Lithuania and Thursday night’s hero Harry Kane will look to keep his tremendous momentum going.
