SHANE WARNE says England must do three things to stay in the Ashes.

Writing in Australian paper The Daily Telegraph, Warne said England must work out how to play the short ball better, work out a plan to get Steve Smith out and the six English left-hand batsmen need to work out a way to play Nathan Lyon.

England certainly need to work harder if they are to win the next Test in the series.

England lost the first Test by ten wickets as Australia ran wild.

The likes of Joe Root and Stuart Broad failed to impress in the Ashes opener.

And Kevin Pietersen also took aim at James Anderson and Jake Ball after the defeat was confirmed.
