LIONEL MESSI masterminded a stunning 3-2 Barcelona win with a last-gasp winner at the Bernabeu which sent his side to the top of La Liga on goal difference.
Defensive midfielder Casemiro opened the scoring, turning home a rebound after Sergio Ramos played a Marcelo cross off the post.

But Lionel Messi unsurprisingly came up with the goods with a stunning Barca equaliser, rounding Dani Carvajal magestically to fire home left-footed.
Ivan Rakitic gave Barca the lead with a stunning left-footed strike from outside the box, before James Rodriguez turned home Marcelo’s cross to make it 2-2.

But Messi was there to turn home a flowing Barca move, which started with Sergi Roberto and included Andre Gomes and Jordi Alba withthe very last kick of the game.
Here, SunSport runs through both sides and how each player performed in a vintage El Clasico.
Real Madrid
Keylor Navas: Often criticised and has not kept a clean sheet in 16 games - but produced stunning good saves to silence doubters. 8

Carlos Carvajal: Was done all ends up by Messi for the equaliser - but not many defenders would have fared better. 6
Sergio Ramos: Had a good game and an assist until the 76th minute when he got a straight red for a frustrated lunge on Messi. Very stupid. 4
Marcelo: Provided the cross for the first goal, the assist for the second and looked generally assured all evening. 7

Nacho: Played ok, got forward well enough on a relatively anonymous night. 6
Toni Kroos: Started well, but flagged massively in the second half and tired rapidly. Not a great showing. 6
Luka Modric: Had a couple of chances and was denied by an excellent Ter Stegen save. Would be a shame if Real got rid in the summer. 7
Casemiro: Scored the opening goal and martialed play well in the centre of the park. 7

Gareth Bale: Missed the last two games with an ankle injury and broke down in the first half before hobbling off. 5
Karim Benzema: Very quiet up front and did not do a lot to trouble the Barcelona defence, was replaced by goalscorer James Rodriguez. 5
Cristiano Ronaldo: Had a shocker on the biggest stage of them all and was completely outshone by Messi. Missed a sitter and looked annoyed all night. 5

Subs
Marco Asensio: Quite bright up top for the starlet. Will only get better. 6
Mateo Kovacic: Didn't really do an awful lot. 5
James Rodriguez: Scored the equaliser with pretty much his first touch. Under-appreciated at Real and is lethal when given the chance. 7

Barcelona
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen: Made some superb saves and confirmed that he is one of the world's best goalkeepers. 8

Sergi Roberto: Was quiet until embarking on driving run to help set up the winner. 6
Gerard Pique: Strong performance from the Spain man, who got into some verbals with international team-mate Ramos. 7
Samuel Umtiti: Was caught out of position a fair bit on the night and was probably the worst of Barca's back four. 6

Jordi Alba: Was excellent going forward, using Neymar's absence to dominate the left channel. 8
Ivan Rakitic: Superb long-range goal and excellent all-round play from the Croatian. 8
Sergio Busquets: Did what Sergio Busquets does - break up play and shield the back four effectively. 7
Andres Iniesta: People may say his influence is waning, but his unreal outside-of-the-boot ball to Luis Suarez for a second-half chance tells you all you need to know about his class. 7

Lionel Messi: An absolutely incredible performance, two goals and ran the show - lots of it with some tissue paper hanging out of his mouth. 9
Luis Suarez: Didn't score but was his classic all-action self, denied by some stunning saves by Keylor Navas. 7
Paco Alcacer: Stood in for Neymar admirably enough, but impossibly big boots to fill. Didn't get much of a sniff. 6

Subs
Andre Gomes: Played his part in Barcelona's winner and looked lively in his 20 minutes. 7
