Diego Costa is Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season… which makes his crossbar challenge effort even more surprising

DIEGO COSTA is Premier League leaders Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season.

That makes his pretty shocking crossbar challenge all the more surprising.

The Blues hitman was challenged by F2 Freestylers to hit the bar from what looked about 20 yards away.

So, from a distance well ahead of the traditional half-way line, and done indoors without the variables of wind and rain, Costa was already at an advantage.

And it looked like he may pull off a decent return from his ten efforts when three of his first four hit the woodwork.

But just one successful punt from the remaining six made contact.

Maybe that explains why he never chips the keeper.

Anyway it is the Spaniard who will be laughing after firing the opener in the 2-0 win over Hull on the weekend.

That extended the Blues lead to eight at the top of the table as their march to the Premier League title continues apace.
