David Willey to miss England’s one-day series against Pakistan after hurting his hand during Twenty20 finals day

DAVID WILLEY has been ruled out of England’s one-day series against Pakistan after hurting his hand during Twenty20 finals day at Edgbaston.

The left-armer will be a big loss because of his ability to swing the ball and a happy knack of taking wickets.

Willey will be replaced by Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball for the five-match 50-over encounter with Pakistan.

He hurt his bowling hand when failing to cling onto a fierce caught and bowled chance offered by Durham opener Mark Stoneman.

After leaving the field h he returned to complete his four-over allocation and opened the batting for Yorkshire, but it was clear he was in considerable pain.

Willey had an x-ray yesterday and, although he will require a further scan today, medics say the damage is enough to rule him out of the games against Pakistan.
