He also asked the match supervisor to stop Alves officiating the match after growing frustrated at a series of calls going against him.
They hit him with three fines for unsporting behaviour totalling £11,200 as a penalty for his amazing display of petulance.
Asked if he thought the umpire had been ‘bought’, he added: “No, not at all. No, no. I mean, it would be really stupid.
“It was stupid, but it was not like this.
“It didn't mean to mean anything. I don't know why I did it. Maybe there were some bad calls. It can happen in sports.

Wimbledon officials also hit firebrand Australian Bernard Tomic with a £11,585 fine for his outburst earlier this week.
Tomic produced a lacklustre display as he went down easily in straight sets in the first round to Miischa Zverev.
And afterwards he admitted he was 'bored' of playing at Wimbleon in a bizarre press conference.
Tomic said: "I don't know why, but I felt a little bit bored out there, to be completely honest with you."
