At Sevilla, Barcelona — and of course Brazil — he has collected over 30 league and cup winners medals across various competitions.
Here we take a look back at his previous finals.

Alves’ first taste of a major European showpiece was when Sevilla demolished Middlesbrough 4-0 in Eindhoven.
And he actually missed a penalty in shoot-out 12 months on.
But it didn’t matter as Sevilla still retained ‘their’ trophy against La Liga rivals Espanyol in Glasgow.
A booking in the 2009 Champions League semi-final success over Chelsea meant he missed that season’s final — but started two years later as Barcelona beat Manchester United at Wembley.

And Alves also played as the Catalans completed a second Treble in 2015 with victory over Juventus in Berlin.
The Brazilian has competed in the Uefa Super Cup on five occasions, with his only defeat coming in 2007 as Sevilla were beaten by AC Milan.
Alves started all three of Barcelona’s Fifa Club World Cup victories.

Alves played in the Spanish Super Cup on seven occasions, tasting success five times.
His two defeats came against Real Madrid on away goals in 2012 and his last one when Barcelona were humbled 5-1 on aggregate by Athletic Bilbao.
He is somewhat of a Copa del Rey specialist with six final appearances.
Alves’ only defeats came against Barca’s Clasico rivals — in 2011 and 2014.

Alves came on after 34 minutes of Brazil’s 2007 Copa America final win over Argentina — and scored.
And he was a second-half introduction as Brazil came from two goals down to win a thrilling Confederations Cup showpiece against the USA in 2009.
By 2013, he had displaced Maicon as the Samba nation’s No.1 right-back and played a starring role as they retained the trophy with a thumping 3-0 win over world champions, Spain.
