Crystal Palace’s former Liverpool duo Christian Benteke and Mamadou Sakho show off handshake routine after goal

After scoring, he sprinted over to another ex-Red – Sakho – and showed off a very public in-joke.

Although it may well just be that the pair have bonded over their almost simultaneous Liverpool exit, Reds fans saw it otherwise.

A host of people took to Twitter to say it was disrespectful, particularly as the French defender is still under contract at the Reds – only on loan at Crystal Palace.

One user wrote: “Sakho celebrating with Benteke, at Anfield……Do one, no respect.”

Another added: “Sakho celebrating with Benteke. His Liverpool career is over.”

Someone else wrote: “Sakho not helping his case at all. Against normal regulations he is still sat on the palace bench, celebrating with Benteke. Idiot.”

While another claimed: “Very unprofessional of Sakho to celebrate with Benteke, considering we’re still his parent club.”

Others failed to see what was wrong with it all though, suggesting it’s fine for team-mates to celebrate a goal at their current club.

One said: “Why are we even upset Sakho celebrated with Benteke after the goal?”

Another even claimed it was fully justified, adding: “People moaning at Sakho hahaha he was left to rot for 5 months in the U23’s by Klopp. Expect nothing else.”
