Yakubu was the subject of a viral video in February where he appeared to be hovering by the touchline doing nothing for many minutes during the 3-1 defeat to Swindon.

But it later emerged the ex-Portsmouth and Everton hitman was struggling due to a hamstring injury and could not be replaced as Coventry had made all their subs.

The forward did not play another game for the club after that match.

He missed out Sunday’s Wembley win over Oxford in the Checkatrade Trophy Final.

Despite their joy last weekend, Coventry looked doomed to relegation this season.
