Christian Benteke amongst Liverpool stars who face Anfield chop as Klopp swings the axe

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp is plotting a summer clear-out at Anfield with Christian Benteke amongst a number of stars facing the axe.

With the Reds looking to add fresh faces to their squad, Klopp has fired a parting shot to those who he deems not good enough to play under him.

He said: “It makes no sense to stay in the squad and be in the squad when you don’t have a real opportunity to play.

“When there’s no chance to play, it makes absolutely no sense.”

It is believed that Lazar Markovic, Mario Balotelli, Tiago Ilori, Lucas and Adam Bogdan are all to be shown the exit door as host of Premier League suitors take notice.

But with Klopp eager to sell his fringe players, the German boss will continue to delve into the transfer market following the signings of Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is being strongly linked with a £25 million move to the Kop.
