The 25-year-old has been brilliant this season for third-placed Leeds, scoring 17 goals as Garry Monk’s team continue with a surprise push for promotion.
Wood, a New Zealand international, has now caught the attention of the Far East club, according to ESPN.
The club, managed by former Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro, have been hot on the trail of Costa in recent weeks.
They have already made a huge move for Axel Witsel during this window, bringing in the Belgian international on a £300,000-a-week deal.
Tianjin are desperate for a striker and have also flamed out on Radamel Falcao, Edinson Cavani, Karim Benzema and Raul Jimenez of Benfica.
