Chelsea transfer news: Moussa Sissoko’s move to Tottenham hijacked by Antonio Conte as Blues outbid rivals

MOUSSA SISSOKO is patiently waiting at Paris airport for Newcastle’s confirmation of a £30million offer.

SunSport can confirm Newcastle are accepting a staged-payment structure for the transfer, and that Chelsea have now joined Tottenham in discussing with Sissoko’s representative.

The 27-year-old French midfielder left Clairefontaine – where Les Bleus train near Paris – to head to London and thrash out a move.

Spurs have offered £16million on Deadline Day and seem to have an advantage on the Blues, although the North Londoners are believed to be unwilling to meet the asking price of £30million for the box-to-box midfielder.

Sissoko said: “As I want to stay in the France team I could not stay in the Championship.

“I want to continue my career in England, at a club that plays in the Champions League because I think this best fits my style of play.”

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to strengthen his midfield after selling Ryan Mason to Hull for £13m yesterday and Nacer Chadli for £12m to West Brom.

Spurs have also let Nabil Bentaleb go on loan to German club Schalke.
