Chelsea transfer news: James Rodriguez moves closer to £75m Stamford Bridge switch after Real Madrid star says he will ‘think about offers’

JAMES RODRIGUEZ has opened the door to a move to Chelsea after admitting his time at the Bernabeu could be over.

The Colombian has been touted by staff at Stamford Bridge as a replacement for Oscar, who will move to Shanghai SIPG for £60m.

A fee of £75m is believed to be enough to force the hand of Real Madrid, and Rodriguez has confirmed he has received offers.

He said: “I can’t promise I will stay at Real Madrid. I have offers and seven days to think [about them].”

The man who burst onto the scene with a serious of unbelievable displays at the 2014 World Cup has been starved of game time under Zinedine Zidane and played no part in Real Madrid’s 4-2 World Club Cup final win over Kashima Antlers earlier today.

It is believed that Lionel Messi spoke with Rodriguez after Argentina’s 3-0 win over Colombia urging him to leave the Bernabeu and fulfil his potential.

Earlier in the month, Zidane insisted the man who joined the Galacticos from Monaco for £63m was going nowhere.

The Real Madrid boss said:  “He [Rodriguez] is going to stay here.”

If the midfielder does decide to move, Antonio Conte could face competition from Manchester United for his signature.

Jose Mourinho’s side were believed to be favourites to sign Rodriguez but it’s understood that Chelsea is now his most likely destination.

Real Madrid were very nearly embarrassed by Japanese champions Kashima Antlers today before a controversial refereeing decision and a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick bailed them out.
