Chelsea transfer news: Chelsea starlet Jake Clarke-Salter joins struggling Sunderland on loan until end of season

SUNDERLAND have signed Jake Clarke-Salter from Chelsea on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has made just one appearance for Chelsea this term, as a late substitute in the League Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Clarke-Salter has been at Chelsea since the age of eight and has won multiple FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League medals with the Blues.

The England Under-20 international, who spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers last season, was on the bench for Chelsea in Saturday’s FA Cup game at Norwich.

Sunderland boss Coleman will be given funds in January to revamp his squad in the hopes it will help his side to stave off back-to-back relegations.

The Black Cats are enduring a disastrous season and currently sit rock bottom of the Championship.

Clarke-Salter, who was part of the  England Under-20 World Cup-winning side in 2017, has also been highly praised by former Chelsea captain John Terry.

Terry said: “Jake has a great attitude.”

“I remember watching him a couple of years ago being in control of the game and a really vocal player.He reminds me a bit of myself.

“He is doing great and I hope he goes on to take my position and get in the first team.”

The hope is his development will push on whit the championship side.
