Chelsea transfer news: AC Milan reject £35million bid from Blues for highly-rated, young centre-back Alessio Romagnoli

CHELSEA have had a £35million bid for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli rejected – and been told he is not for sale at any price.

Italian boss Antonio Conte, 47, has been a long-time admirer of his compatriot – who only signed for Milan last summer in a £21.25m deal from Roma.

Yet after getting a closer look at Romagnoli during Chelsea‘s clash with the Serie A giants in the International Champions Cup, Conte stepped up his interest.

Yet the Italian side have now claimed they will not be selling the 21-year-old defender – for any price.

An AC Milan statement read: “AC Milan has received a significant offer for its player Alessio Romagnoli from Chelsea FC.

“The player is not for sale, therefore this negotiation will not continue.

“The club wants to thank Chelsea FC with whom we will continue to have a great working relationship.”

Romagnoli made his Serie A debut aged 17 and has made 77 senior appearances for Roma, Milan and Sampdoria.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Conte has enjoyed a busy first few weeks in charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The former Juventus and Italy boss has already brought former Leicester midfielder N’Golo Kante in from Leicester, as well as Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi in big-money deals.
