Chelsea star N’Golo Kante reveals he wanted to join Marseille before he helped Leicester win the Premier League
N’GOLO KANTE has revealed that he wanted to join Marseille rather than move to the Premier League when he decided to leave Caen.
The Frenchman has become one of the biggest stars in England after helping Leicester City win the title in remarkable fashion, before helping Antonio Conte transform Chelsea this season.

But the 25-year-old, who is the heavy favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year, has said that he wanted to move to France’s South Coast in the summer of 2015.

He told Canal Plus: “Among the clubs that most wanted to recruit me were Marseille and Leicester.
“I thought I had to go through a stage in France.
“I remember the generation of [Mamadou] Niang, [Franck] Ribery and [Samir] Nasri and it was a team that I liked, especially in the Champions League.”

Under Claudio Ranieri, Kante and the Foxes won the unlikeliest of titles.
