And Enrique has emerged as a leading contender to replace him at the Parc des Princes.

The talented tactician is midway through a year off after leaving Barcelona last summer.

But it’s believed Chelsea are keen on luring him to the Premier League as doubts over Antonio Conte’s future grow.

The Italian penned a contract extension after winning the 2016-17 title, but his second term at Stamford Bridge has been rife with tension.

Conte believes he hasn’t been sufficiently backed in the transfer market by Roman Abramovich and his aides.

But all the negative talk is said to have angered his employers, who will now turn to Enrique to lead them in the next campaign.
