Chelsea fans take to Twitter to declare hat-trick Alvaro Morata is an upgrade on forgotten Diego Costa

Sep 23, 2017

CHELSEA fans seem to have made it official: Alvaro Morata is better than Diego Costa.

Days after the Premier League winner finally forced his way out of Stamford Bridge in a £58million return to Atletico Madrid, Morata bagged a brilliant hat-trick.

Alvaro Morata has revealed that he told Conte, last summer, that he would only leave Real Madrid for Chelsea — Alvaro Morata scored three goals against Stoke to replace the club’s favourite former striker

Diego Costa is moving his nightclub out to Madrid with him — Alvaro Morata had big boots to fill as Diego Costa fired Chelsea to the title with 20 league goals last season

Morata had already scored three headers before the trip to Stoke and Blues fans have been joking he waited for Costa to clear off before he started putting his feet to work.

Speaking about his new superstar, Antonio Conte said: “He played a good game, a really good performance. Now he has to continue this way to be a great striker.”

But the Chelsea fans were a little bit more inventive:

Who needs Costa? 2 cracking finishes from Morata. Read a lot of rubbish about him after one below par performance last week.

Sold £58m Costa, Bought £58m Morata
Sold £40m Matic, Bought £40m Bakayoko

Both of them looking like upgrades.

Alvaro Morata has now scored as many Premier League hat-tricks for Chelsea (1) as Diego Costa.

The perfect replacement.

Chelsea Signed Costa for £32m, won two titles, sold him for 58m when no longer needed & reinvested in Morata with the funds. Unreal business
