Chelsea eye up Fernando Llorente to ‘mentor’ £65m signing Alvaro Morata… but are unwilling to pay Swansea’s £30m asking price

CHELSEA are mulling over a transfer swoop for Swansea’s Fernando Llorente.

It is believed Antonio Conte see’s Llorente as the ideal “mentor” to new £65million signing Alvaro Morata, but his valuation could prove to be a stumbling block.

Swansea are holding out for around £30m for the former Juventus and Sevilla striker, with Chelsea unwilling to pay that much, according to the Independent.

Antonio Conte had eyed Llorente in the January transfer window, but Swansea managed to hold out, with the Spaniard a key player in their Premier League survival.

Llorente worked with Conte, and importantly with Morata during the trio’s time at Juventus, and he could provide the perfect foil for the Blues’ new mega-money signing.

Christian Benteke is believed to be another option for Conte, although he would be unlikely to settle for a back-up spot in a World Cup year.

It looks like these moves could mean Michy Batshuayi is set for a loan move out of Stamford Bridge.

SunSport has previously reported how Batshuayi has been made the number one target of Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.

Batshuayi had a dissappointing debut season at Stamford Bridge and a move to the Turkish giants could provide the increased playing time he is looking for.

He appeared in 23 games and scored nine goals for Chelsea, making just one league start after joining the club last Summer for £33.2million.

But the Belgium international is eager for more playing time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
