Following Chelsea’s 2-0 pre-season defeat to Rapid Vienna, Conte is keen to land a new central defender with growing concerns that his defence may not be up to scratch ahead of the new campaign.

However they are set to face stiff competition from Everton with Ronald Koeman prepared to use the financial power of new owner Farad Moshiri to land the 25-year-old.
