And he is all set to step in when fellow Italian Antonio Conte is sacked by Chelsea this summer.

Asked of his plans, Allegri said: “Certainly I’ll go abroad. In Italy, finished.”

Conte has been at loggerheads with the Blues’ board over their transfer policy.

He knows his time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end — but the club are unlikely to axe him before the summer.

They want Conte to earn his £185,000-a-week wages while he is refusing to quit.

With another year left on his deal he still faces a £9.6million pay-off but there is also a trophy to play for with Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Allegri, who succeeded Conte at Juventus, has been busy preparing for tonight’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie with Real Madrid.

The 50-year-old had wanted the Arsenal job last summer and held talks with the Gunners’ hierarchy when they were dithering over Arsene Wenger’s future.

Wenger went on to sign a new deal but now Allegri — who is learning English — has his eyes on another London club this summer.

He added in the Daily Telegraph: “Probably I would like to carry on being a club coach for another five of six years, then I would like to coach a national team.”
