Chaos as race-cars pile-up in monster smash during the FIA GT World Cup in Macau
UTTER chaos ensued during the FIA GT World Cup in Macau on Saturday, as race-cars were involved in a monster pile-up.
The incredible incident left racers “lucky to be alive” on the very first lap of qualifying on Saturday in Hong Kong.

In fact, just four cars out of the 20-strong field drove away from the outrageous pile-up unscathed, as vehicle after vehicle careered into the back of the scrap-heap.
The stunned commentator describes the crash as “mayhem” and the “worst he’s ever seen in GT racing”, as the qualifying session is understandably stopped.
Brazilian Raffaele Marciello, of Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing, even said he was lucky to be alive after the mass crash.
He revealed: “I was lucky and I am happy to be alive. It’s a special track but it’s also scary.”
Racers had no time to hit the brakes as the pile-up grew in MacauTwitter
German racer Maro Engel – who failed to make it out of the pits for the session – revealed his thoughts as he could only watch on as the smash occurred.
“Hopefully we can get some of these cars back on track by tomorrow and have a race.”
Amazingly, no-one was injured in the incredible scenes, but the day did take a sombre turn as British motorcyclist Daniel Hegarty died in a separate incident.
