LEWIS HAMILTON says he cannot believe his luck at wiping out Nico Rosberg’s huge lead in the championship in just two races.
The German’s advantage has been slashed from a whopping 43 points to just nine after Hamilton’s victories in Monaco and Montreal.
And the Brit is now eyeing up more wins in Azerbaijan and Austria to ensure that he heads to the British GP next month in pole position in the title race.
He said: “I’m so surprised at the turn around. I could never have predicted it. If I was to put money down, I would never have tried to predict that.

“I thought Monaco might have been a one off; a fluke kind of thing. But the race was not a fluke.
“I am now going to continue to push the car for as long as it stays together, but the way it is going, I don’t see that strength diminishing.
“We are still going from strength to strength. There are things to pick up on, such as the starts, once we get those, we will get back to where we want to be.
“The goal is to be leading the championship by Silverstone. I want to win every race. It is a desire to win and this has shown once again that I am just as focused as any of the other guys.
“I didn’t make any mistakes in Canada, so it is comforting to see that focus and being that confident and comfortable in the car.”

However, Hamilton wants his Mercedes team to solve their sticky starts after he was again forced to come from behind after a slow getaway.
That put him into a tangle with Rosberg culminating in their first-lap banging of tyres — a move that left Rosberg “p***** off”.
The championship leader had to settle for fifth place and is now without a podium in three races as his sensational early-season form has taken a nosedive.
Yet Hamilton, 31, is refusing to get carried away that his own rotten luck is over as he risks an engine penalty later in the year.

He added: “I know I have less engines, so after the summer break it is likely I need to take a sixth engine. That means I will have to start last.
“So I know there will be that joker coming along and playing an integral part at a race weekend.
“You never know what can happen next. There was one problem after another before and I was not expecting Monaco to come around and then I had a storming race there.
“Then I went to Montreal and got the pole. And then in the race, I felt phenomenal in the car.”
Despite Rosberg’s frustration at the first lap flashpoint, Hamilton is not expecting any punishment from his Mercedes team.
He added: “I don’t think the team could do anything to stop that happen because you could not have predicted we would be side by side going into the first corner.
“Nico was on the outside, I was on the inside, so I was on the racing line. I suffered massive understreer as I was turning and after watching it, it was the smallest tap.
“From my side, I barely felt it but for him, he had to go the other way. Sometimes you make it round the outside and sometimes you don’t and for him it didn’t work.”
