BURY FC are paving the way and will be the first football club in the country to be entirely cashless in their grounds.
Gigg Lane will see fans paying for their products with a loyalty card provided by the club’s innovative shirt sponsors.

The league one side’s away shirt sponsor Tappit, who already provide cashless payment systems at events around the world, are helping the Manchester based team become the first football stadium in the UK to move away from cash payments.
Similar to the oyster card in London, the card can be pre-paid and simply tapped at the till where payments are deducted.
It allows revellers to continue to enjoy a half-time pie and pint, or any other refreshments, at the stadium’s four stands.
The club claim the move will cut queuing times for refreshments and allow fans more time to soak up the atmosphere in the stadium.

It is not yet known if football fans can pay with bank cards, contact-less or not, but away fans may be less than happy to have to get their hands on a Bury branded card.
And Bury’s own fans have taken to social media to mock the club’s move
However, Bury FC Commerical Director, Matt Caren was adament that the move would be well received, he said: “Offering our fans the chance to go cashless at Gigg Lane is such a positive move for us.
“It also helps us find out more about the behaviours of our supporters and learn how best we can communicate with our fans moving forward.”

Bury may be without a manager at present, but they are determined to be a forward-thinking club.
They sit in the drop-zone in league one, just one point ahead of Plymouth Argyle after securing just three wins this season and ten losses.
Lee Clark was sacked as the club’s manager after an eight month stint.
