Victory moves Spurs to within seven points of the Blues – giving neutrals hope of a proper title race.
But Pochettino will be concerned to lose midfield duo Harry Winks and Victor Wanyama to injury with the England youngster in particular looking to be facing an extended spell out.
FACTS, STATS, GOALS AND LOLS
- Vincent Janssen was given a huge vote of confidence by Mauricio Pochettino after he was handed only his sixth Premier League start.
- ASHLEY BARNES would have been disappointed with his header early on for Burnley, which was saved easily by Hugo Lloris.
- DELE ALLI scores spectacular goals – but at Turf Moor he missed an absolute sitter. Tom Heaton parried a Christian Eriksen shot – but somehow Alli fired over an open goal from just seven yards.
- YOU can see why Burnley do so well at home. Their high pressing game is effective and they get plenty of bodies behind the ball when under pressure and break rapidly.

- ANDRE GRAY looked to have done everything right as he raced clear down the right edge of the box but massively over hit his low cross with Burnley players lining up to score.
- TOTTENHAM were forced into making TWO changes just before the break when Victor Wanyama hobbled off while Harry Winks appeared to twist his ankle as he went flying into the Burnley technical area after being wrong footed by Stephen Ward.
- SAM VOKES came on for his 200th Burnley appearance when he replaced Andre Gray in the second half.

- TOM HEATON showed great reflexes to get Spurs out of jail when Ben Davies fired an angled shot.
- MOUSSA SISSOKO really ought to have done better than lash a shot horribly wide from 12 yards when well placed.
- ERIC DIER ruthlessly punished Jeff Hendrick for not clearing an Eriksen corner by lashing Tottenham in front.
- HEUNG-MIN SON showed Janssen how it is done by finding the onion bag again – slotting home Dele Alli’s centre.
