Brazilian goalkeeper saves 40-yard effort from Brazil legend Ronaldinho with Higuita-esque scorpion kick
TWENTY TWO years ago, Rene Higuita wowed the world, and created one of football’s most iconic moments, with his famous “scorpion kick” while playing for Colombia against England at Wembley.
On Sunday, history repeated itself when a nutty Brazilian goalkeeper emulated Higuita’s save to deny Ronaldinho a goal in a friendly match.

The pair were taking part in a charity match in Sao Paulo when the stopper delighted the fans with his audacious save.
The former Barcelona star was representing “Ronaldinho’s friends” while the goalkeeper was between the sticks for “Stars.”
The incident took place in the 29th minute when the Ballon d’Or winner attempted a cheeky 40-yard freekick.
Not to be outdone, the keeper decided to stop the shot in an even cheekier way: a scorpion kick.

Players on both teams applauded the keeper following his audacious save
Though, it did not get close to the style or elegance of the Colombian’s save.
The block was appreciated by the supporters and players alike, with the latter breaking into applause following the save.
Though, the keeper couldn’t stop Ronaldinho from making his mark as he rolled back the years with a glorious goal from his own half.
The play maker, who made 97 appearances for Brazil, guided his shot high over the stranded goalkeeper who could only applaud the goal.
Despite his efforts R10, who is yet to officially retire from football, could not stop his team from losing 9-6.
