BATTLING Bradley Lowery completed a smashing sporting weekend double when he walked out at the Stadium Light with his great mate Jermaine Defoe.
The terminally ill five-year-old, who has who has a rare form of cancer, was once again a Sunderland guest of honour as they took on Manchester United at Sunday lunchtime.

Less than 24 hours earlier the brave youngster enjoyed a much-needed fun day out at the Grand National.
He was awarded 41st place on the race card by the Jockey Club Racecourses to help raise awareness and funds towards his long-running battle.
On the racecard, Bradley’s red and white silks were in honour of his football team Sunderland.

Then it was on to his beloved Sunderland to link up again with Defoe, who has championed Bradley’s cause in a series of high profile interviews and television appearances and called the little boy his ‘best friend’.

The pair walked out for the kick-off together and were cheered to the rafters from every corner of the struggling Premier League team's stadium.
On Saturday Bradley and his family has received the sad news yesterday that his last-ditch treatment to battle his terminal cancer is not working – but they were determined to have fun at Aintree, where Bradley met winning jockey Derek Fox after his victory on One for Arthur.

It was the same at the Stadium of Light, where Bradley held hands with and cuddled Defoe, and enjoyed a kickabout with Black Cats keeper Vito Mannone.
