Match stats

  • Bournemouth’s current record after five games is exactly the same as it was at this point last season (W1, D1, L3).
  • Everton are one of the only three unbeaten sides in the Premier League this season, as well as Manchester City and Tottenham.
  • There were three meetings between these sides last season, as many as there had been in the previous 78 years.

What they said

Eddie Howe on last season’s home clash against Everton: “The home game was a turning point in our season. We looked like we were down and out and beaten with about 30 seconds of the game to go and we scored that last-gasp goal to make it 3-3 and I think that revitalised our season.

“We need to find that determination again if we are going to stay up.”

Ronald Koeman on the goalless midweek performance against Norwich: “Against different systems or different ways of defending, you need to be prepared. But it was not the problem that we did not create opportunities [against Norwich]. We did not score the goal.

“The quality players can make a difference in the productivity that we did not have on Tuesday. Before that [we did], and that’s important because it’s one of the qualities of the players.”
