Borussia Dortmund 1 Ingolstadt 0: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scores only goal of game to help team close in on RB Leizpig
AN early strike from leading scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped a nervy Borussia Dortmund side edge past relegation candidates Ingolstadt on Friday evening.
Thomas Tuchel’s leading man bagged his 30th goal of the season with a precise finish as Dortmund moved within three points of second-place RB Leipzig.

But the Champions League quarter-finalists didn’t have it all their own way at the Signal Iduna Park, with Ingolstadt clearly determined to make – and earn – a point after winning just one of their last six outings.

Neither side made an impression in the opening stages but it was Dortmund who gained the upper hand when Aubameyang snuck in at the near-post before finding the bottom corner in the 14th minute.
Raphael Guerreiro could have had his side two-up just before the half-time but skied his shot way over the bar.

Ingolstadt’s Matthew Leckie spurned a number of opportunities as he tried and failed to break his barren run in front of goal.
But not even the introductions of Julian Weigl and Andre Schurrle – both called up by Germany to face England this month – could liven up what eventually turned out to be a bit of a damp squib.

Even the famous Westfalenstadion crowd started to leave with ten minutes remaining, and Dortmund will have to up the performances if they want to keep one step ahead of Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin in the race for a top four finish.
Tuchel has a busy month coming in April, with TWO matches still to be played against Bayern Munich as well as a Champions League double against free-scoring Monaco.
