Boca Juniors target Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero for a summer move

MANCHESTER United goalkeeper Sergio Romero could be on his way out of Old Trafford in the summer with Boca Juniors ready to make a move.

The Argentinian has found game time hard to come by with David De Gea being first choice for Jose Mourinho.

It is unlikely that a move could happen in January as Sam Johnstone has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.

Romero, 29, joined United from Sampdoria in the summer of 2015 to give him the chance to work with Louis Van Gaal again, his manager at AZ Alkmaar. But the goalkeeper has only made 15 appearances since joining.

Starting off in Argentina with Racing Club, Romero soon moved on to AZ Alkmaar in 2007 where he spent four years. A move to Sampdoria followed before a loan spell at Monaco. It was likely that he’d always be secondto David De Gea at Old Trafford, but with Boca Juniors going in for a potential move, he might be tempted with the chance to be first choice.

Boca will be hoping they can lure Romero, who has 18 months left on his current contract, back to his home country but they will have to be patient if they are to get their man.
