The 28-year-old hasn’t made a league start for Rovers since August and Owen Coyle hasn’t included him in the last three matchday squads.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph and rumours in Poland Jagiellonia are lining up Stokes having missed out on fellow Irish forward Cillian Sheridan who is at Cypriot club Omonia.

Stokes was on the brink of returning to Hibernian in the January transfer window but they could not get the deal finalised before the midnight deadline.

Blackburn Manager Owen Coyle commented on the move: “I can only imagine it’s speculation. There’s certainly been no dialogue with anyone regarding Anthony going to Poland or otherwise.”

Anthony Stokes avoided jail earlier this month after headbutting Elvis impersonator in a nightclub.

If the move to Poland does go ahead for Stokes, he will join up with former Hamilton and Patrick Thistle full-back Ziggy Gordon.
