Silva looked to be in great pain and was forced off having just scored his first goal for Portugal.

He had finished off a nifty team move only to find himself grounded and surrounded by worried Portuguese team-mates.

But their seems there is no need to worry about the man City have signed from Monaco for £43million.

For Silva was happy to Tweet: “Thanks a lot for your support messages. Everything is fine with my ankle.”

That’s a relief. For while Silva returned to the pitch for the last few minutes of the first half, he was replaced by Pizzi for the second half.
