Bayern Munich tracking Granit Xhaka according to former manager Ottmar Hitzfeld

And the 24-year-old has also come in for some stinging criticism from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for his woeful disciplinary problems which have seen him sent off twice for reckless challenges.

Xhaka’s last five appearances for the Gunners have seen him collect a red card and five bookings and Wenger admits it is hard to trust someone who is continually getting into trouble with referees.
But his reputation is still so high back in the Bundesliga that German giants Bayern are said to be interested in taking him to Munich this summer.
Former Bayern manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has revealed the club have been long-term admirers of the tough-tackling player.
And he claims there are many at the club who believe he still has the potential to develop into a major midfield force, but that he is not showing it with Arsenal.
