SVEN ULREICH has issued a grovelling apology to Bayern Munich fans after his mistake sent Real Madrid to the Champions League final.
Bayern’s back-up goalie has played the majority of the season following an injury to Manuel Neuer, who is highly regarded as the best in the world.

And Ulreich’s status won’t be changing when Germany’s No 1 returns after a sloppy error handed Real a goal on a plate in last night’s semi-final second leg clash at the Bernabeu.
What should have been an easy pass to a teammate turned into a nightmare for Ulreich as he misjudged his timing to let Corentin Tolisso’s back pass slide under him and into the path of Real’s Karim Benzema.
Real ended up winning the tie 4-3 on aggregate, and Ulreich has now begged fans to forgive his epic blunder.
The shot-stopper wrote on social media: “Words can’t describe how disappointed I am for being knocked out.

“We desperately wanted to reach the final and we gave our best and then this needless mistake happens to me.
“I can’t explain it. I’m sorry for my team and for you fans.”

However, fans were quick to absolve Ulreich of the blame, with Real simply getting the rub of the green on the night.
Supporters also noted how consistent he has been in another Bundesliga title-winning season despite previously spending most of his time on the bench.
