Bastian Schweinsteiger hits the golf course during Manchester United exile as club-mates prepare to take on Southampton at Old Trafford

BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER looks to have found himself a new club as he tries to avoid any more run-ins with nasty five-footers this summer.

Manchester United have seemingly given the German ace the birdie by launching him into the long grass.

And as United prepare to get on the Old Trafford surface for the first time this season against Southampton tomorrow night, Schweinsteiger had to content himself with a pitch of a whole different kind.

Schweini’s brother Tobias appeared to tee off at Jose Mourinho earlier this month when he posted a tweet saying “no respect”.

And FifPro member Dejan Stefanovic then took a swing by amazingly suggesting the United boss should face JAIL for “bullying” the former Bayern Munich skipper.

And all that comes off the back of Schweini being frozen out of Mourinho’s plans – with the world-record-fee arrival of Paul Pogba helping seal the 32-year-old’s fate.

Talking about the midfielder ex-boss Louis van Gaal signed on a three-year contract last July, Mourinho has said: “What is happening is happening in every club in the world, which is the manager decides his squad.

“I normally like to work with 20 players plus the three goalkeepers which is what I do for 15 years, because we have so many players.

“But at the same time we also have so many competitions and especially the Europa League is a competition that changes a lot of the season.

“You can play 15 matches, you play on the Thursday, you have a big risk, travel a lot.

“Normally you are going to play the Premier League on the Sunday so I made the decision to be with 23 players plus three goalkeepers which I think is still a lot and I had to make my decisions.”
