Barcelona star Sergio Busquets snubs all social media in favour of simple life

NOWADAYS it is hard to think of anyone without an online profile, let alone a well known footballer who plays for one of the world’s biggest teams.

However, Barcelona star Sergio Busquets can claim to be one of the few players with no online presence and is Blaugrana’s only player without a social media account.

Sport claims Busquets doesn’t even like messaging on Whatsapp and would rather make phone calls.

And the old school midfielder even leaves his phone on silence when in the company of others because he believes he doesn’t need anything other than those beside him.

Busquets personal decision is even more surprising when you consider that many players use their social media accounts to enhance their profiles to attract sponsors.

The Spaniard has revealed that he would get rid of certain platforms if he could.

“If it was up to me, I’d get rid of Twitter to stop the fake profiles and people saying and doing what they want,” he told El Larguero on Cadena Ser.

If reports that Pep Guardiola is planning a shock swoop for the Barcelona ace are true, Busquets may need to join the rest of the 21st century on social media to keep in contact with his nearest and dearest.

The Citizens are preparing a replacement for Yaya Toure – who is expected to leave the club in June 2018.

And the City boss is now allegedly willing to fork out £50m to secure his services, according to the Daily Star.

Guardiola indicated his interest in the midfielder earlier this year, but the move failed to materialise.
