Barcelona players want Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid and are urging club chiefs to spend big bucks on French striker

BARCELONA’S players are reportedly urging club chiefs to splash the cash on Antoine Griezmann.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims the Atletico Madrid superstar is being lined up for a big-money move to the Nou Camp this summer.

Griezmann has scored an incredible 99 goals in 192 appearances during four seasons under Diego Simeone.

And the 26-year-old could now be heading to Catalonia as Ernesto Valverde looks to tighten his grip on La Liga.

Barcelona are seven points of Atletico in the table and a massive 14 ahead of fierce rivals Real.

However, they are yet to find an out-and-out replacement for Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record £195million move last summer.

Barca around £130m on Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele before shelling out the same fee for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.

However, their players are said to rate Griezmann extremely highly, and believe he’s capable of taking the club up another level.

Barca are aware that Real Madrid may spend big in the transfer window after a terrible season under Zinedine Zidane.

And securing Griezmann’s signature would go a long way to keeping Barcelona top of the pile for at least another year.
