Barcelona news: Club block Argentina star Javier Mascherano’s move to Juventus
BARCELONA have blocked Juventus from completing the summer transfer of Javier Mascherano.
Italian champions Juve have been trying to put together a deal for the Argentine defender all summer as they strengthen their squad to be stronger in Europe next season.
Javier Mascherano’s move to Juventus has been blocked by Barcelona
They have already earmarked Barca defender Dani Alves, and had hope to make it a Barca double by capturing Mascherano as well.
But despite weeks of negotiations at board level, Barca have now decided they do not have any intentions of selling the former Liverpool and West Ham star.
Mascherano, who is part of the Argentina squad who last night thumped USA 4-0 in the Copa America semi-final, has been aware of the transfer talk for the past month.

The player had made it clear he would be prepared to make the switch to Turin if Barca were willing to sell, but that he would not attempt to force a move.
And the La Liga champions have decided they still see the 32-year-old as an important part of their plans for next season.

The Italian club’s director Giuseppe Marotta said: “Barcelona will not sell, this is now a closed case.
“With Miralem Pjanic and Dani Alves we have started building the team for next season.”
