Barcelona beat Arsenal and Chelsea to signing of Iker San Vicente from Osasuna

BARCELONA have signed Osasuna starlet Iker San Vicente on a free transfer, according to reports from Spain.

Diario de Navarra claims that Barcelona are in contact with Osasuna directors to finalise a deal.

The 16-year-old will arrive on a free and will be incorporated into Barca’s Juvenil B squad after refusing to sign a new contract with Osasuna.

In Spain up until the age of 16 players can only sign one-year-deals until they sign their first professional contract.

The defender dubbed, “the new Gerald Pique” is regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Spain.

The player’s performances attracted the attention of top Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal.

Arsenal watched San Vicente play last month and Gunners scouts were impressed with the defender.

Italian champions Juventus also tracked his developments.

Barca see him as a player with bundles of potential and see him as a replacement for Eric Garcia, who left to join Manchester City.
