Atletico Madrid stadium Wanda Metropolitano to host 2019 Champions League final after beating off competition from the Olympic Stadium in Baku

The Azerbaijani city will now host the Europa League final in the same year instead.
European football’s governing body gave a glowing report for the venue that only opened it’s doors last weekend for Atletico’s game against Malaga.
The capacity, accessibility, safety and evacuation plans all got the thumbs up.
There were reportedly fears over the 68,000 capacity being a hindrance as space for Uefa’s sponsors would be reduced.
But it seems the plush new arena was too good to turn down for club football’s showpiece.
It will be the fourth time the Spanish capital has hosted a European Cup final and the eighth time in Spain.

Fans waved flags around to cheer on Diego Simeone's side who are currently sixth in La Liga.
Atletico have played their first three games of the new season away from home.
They drew with Girona before thrashing Las Palmas 5-1 to keep pace at the top of the table.
But another draw against Valencia has seen them fall seven points behind leaders Barcelona.
