ARSENE WENGER has finally splashed the cash and told Arsenal fans: Judge me in May.

Before news filtered out of his big-money moves some fans were in open revolt — with chants of “spend some f***ing money” ringing around the Emirates in the 4-3 opening-round loss to Liverpool.
The Frenchman remained calm and said he does not want to be judged on his transfer dealings now but at the end of the season.
Arsenal sign off their make-or-break campaign against Everton on May 21 when Wenger could decide to call time on his reign.
The imminent arrival of Valencia defender Mustafi, 24, and Deportivo La Coruna striker Perez, 27, would bring an end to the mounting pressure that had been piling up on him in recent weeks.
But Wenger insists they are NOT panic buys made simply to appease disgruntled fans ahead of Wednesday night’s deadline.
He said: “Look at my face. Am I the face of somebody who does a panic buy?
“I’m happy when our supporters are happy but my focus is on strengthening the squad in the right way.
“If you look at last season for example, it is not necessarily the club who bought the most that is in front.
“It’s my job to make the right decisions for the team and the club. At the end of the season you will see if I made them.”
It is believed Arsenal initially rejected the chance to sign Perez last month. And they have also been reluctant to pay over the odds to sign former Everton reject Mustafi — despite their crisis in central defence.

Wenger maintains he would never bow to terrace unrest demanding a cash splurge.
But asked if he gets stopped in the street by supporters urging him to spend to keep pace with their rivals, Wenger added: “Yes, many times. Buy! But it’s never aggressive. People are usually nice and supportive.
“Now people have been addicted to news. We live in a society where we need always new faces, hope for the future.

“You want to dream but you also fear because the other clubs buy, you don’t buy. But my job is to resist stress and pressure.
“What has changed from the ’80s to today is that transparency has become unlimited. Everybody knows who is available.
“I have always said it’s not a question of numbers.
“But who has finished in the market? Nobody. Everybody is waiting to get the deals done.”

Spanish striker Perez — whose style has drawn comparisons with former target Jamie Vardy — is on the verge of tying up a £17m move.
And the long-running pursuit of Mustafi is also close to an end, with the Germany centre-back due to arrive for £35m.
Wenger added: “Perez is a late developer. He has good link-up and good finishing qualities.
“Mustafi was Valencia’s captain. If we get it done we get what we wanted.”
With only one point from their first two Premier League games, Arsenal need a win at Watford.
Wenger added: “We need a first win after our draw at Leicester.
“When you look at other teams, they are making points.”
