ARSENE WENGER is close to completing the sensational transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – but is he still on the lookout for some more pace up top?

With the likes of speedsters Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez having departed the Emirates this month, the French gaffer might still want to add some speed in attack.

And having utilised the pace of club legend Thierry Henry and the likes of Marc Overmars and Nicholas Anelka over the years, does Wenger fancy taking in an athlete?

One “athlete” Wenger looks almost certain of working with is Aubameyang.

The Gunners are close to completing a £55.4million deal for the Gabon striker.

Bild say weeks of prolonged negotiations are in their final hours.

The  Gunners made a third bid for the Borussia Dortmund striker late on Sunday, upping their offer from an initial £44m. The Telegraph reports that £55.4m has now been agreed.

It means Arsene Wenger will finally get his man before Wednesday’s deadline, although Dortmund want a replacement ready.

French striker Olivier Giroud is a potential option for the German giants.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told German TV over the weekend that they are prepared to sell the Gabonese striker “if certain parameters are fully met”.
