Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed the signings of Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi and Deportivo striker Lucas Perez for a combined £52m.

The Gunners chief has splashed out £35m on the German centre-back and triggered Perez’s £17.1m release clause earlier this week.

Wenger revealed after Arsenal’s 3-1 away win at Watford today that the pair had passed medicals and only paperwork needed to be completed.

He said: “”We have bought two players, Mustafi and Perez. Now we can integrate them into the squad.”

The Arsenal boss added about Perez “Because he’s not in the Spanish national team, he can come straight away.”

We told exclusively today how the Gunners tried to sign Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann earlier this summer.

Wenger held talks with the 25-year-old French striker, but told him he was happy and settled in the Spanish capital.

Griezmann has an £85m buy-out clause which Arsenal would have struggled to afford.
