Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez reveals how he used to play football in jail as a goalkeeper

Whilst the Chilean is now no stranger to the greatest stadiums in world football, he hasn’t always graced world class turfs.

Sanchez’s rise to stardom involved playing on street corners when growing up in the city of Tocopilla in northern Chile.

But the Arsenal man, who is a sensational summer target for London rivals Chelsea, also admitted his older friends dragged him to the local jail to play and then stuck him in between the sticks.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, he said: “[I played] in the street, but we also used to go to the local jail to play.

“We played with the people there on a dirt pitch, and I played in goal.

“I wanted to be a professional footballer from when I was small. My mental approach was always to win and to go as far as possible playing football.”

It's a different life for Sanchez altogether these days as he mulls over a new lucrative contract from Arsenal, thought to be in the region of £250,000-a-week.

But his future won't be the only thing on his mind after he was caught speeding by police before they "confiscated his licence and game him an April court date".
