ARSENE WENGER upset a large section of Arsenal fans this week when he announced he had signed a new two-year deal at the club.
The ‘Wenger Out’ brigade had been in full force throughout the 2016-17 season, as the Gunners struggled in the Premier League and Champions League.

As well as finishing just fifth in the league, Arsenal were humiliated in the Champions League last-16, losing 10-2 to German giants Bayern Munich.
The turbulent season, which also saw a host of public spats involving star players such as Alexis Sanchez, came to an end as Wenger led his side to the FA Cup title.
And it appears to have been enough to save the long-serving Frenchman’s skin as the board met with him this week to discuss his future.
While a section of Gooners are incredulous at the decision, there’s reason to be cheerful… after all, Wenger is the third-most successful manager in English football history.

Only two bosses in the history of English football can boast more trophies - legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Bob Paisley.
Fergie won an outrageous 25 trophies at Manchester United, including 13 Premier League crowns.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's Bob Paisley got his hands on 13 trophies - six of which were league titles, with a further four in Europe.

Next in the standings is Mr Wenger who's racked up an impressive ten trophies.
While just three have been Premier League titles - and remarkably NONE have been in Europe - he's proven to be a cup specialist, winning seven domestic trophies.
Despite that, he still ranks above United's former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho on nine trophies.

While managing English clubs, the Special One has got his hands on three Premier League titles, one Europa League and five further domestic trophies.
He ranks above another United legend Sir Matt Busby and Brian Clough on eight trophies apiece and Kenny Dalglish on seven.
Another Anfield icon Bill Shankly completes the top eight bosses in English football, with seven trophies.
