Shearer is a manager of one of the teams participating in the event to raise funds following the Grenfell tower tragedy that killed at least 80 people.

Ahead of his club’s team talk, the Newcastle veteran said: “It will be nerve wracking giving a team talk wont it, when I know that Mourinho is sitting in the corner watching me.”

However, these nerves were nowhere to be seen when he took a sly dig at his player in the dressing room.

During the team talk, he said: “It’s a fantastic cause, I know you’ve all travelled from all over the country to be here.

“Last night I was delighted when I heard that the greatest manager ever was coming to join us. I’ve got to apologise sir Alex isn’t here, but we’ve got the second best thing. We’ve got Mourinho.”

Shearer’s squad will be up against a side managed by Les Ferdinand, who grew up next to Grenfell Tower.
