Above The Rest landed the bet365 Bunbury Cup under talented jockey Clifford Lee

ABOVE THE REST lunged late to land a competitive renewal of the bet365 Bunbury Cup.

Steady Pace looked likely to claim the lucrative prize but was collared in the closing stages by both the 12-1 winner and Sir Dancealot.

Above The Rest passed the post half a length ahead in the hands of apprentice Clifford Lee who was riding his 50th winner of his career.

Lee said: “I’m very grateful to the owners and the trainer for putting me on these sort of horses, especially when they’re winners.

“I’m over the moon to get my 50th winner, which brings me down to a 3lb claimer now. I’m overwhelmed.

“He came off the bridle a little bit. I had to squeeze him up early doors and then he came back on the bridle.

“I didn’t want to get there too soon as he tends to stop a little bit, but he’s done enough and did it nicely in the end.

“You’ve got to take these opportunities with both hands.”
